When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.Wendell Berry
Taking a look back. Back to a beautiful summer morning in dc with these 5 and their adored and truly adorable pup. This was a long awaited day, as rain interfered repeatedly with our planning. When the day final came, it was a hot one. But there we were, early morning in the balmy d.c heat, with only a handful of runners on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Before the tourists arrived, we walked and talked and laughed and made these wonderful photographs in this historic space. It was truly a joy. And I do invite you to scroll to the end and see their amazing jumping image!
Some favorites from this session with this wonderful family. These teens are SO MUCH FUN. Thank you for letting me capture this beautiful stage of life in your family.
I had the very wonderful opportunity to photograph this Monday Evening event for the Mercatus Center in Arlington, Virginia for their series, Conversations with Tyler. The guest in conversation with host Tyler Cowan was Malcolm Gladwell, best selling author, including "The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference,” and "David and Goliath". For more details on this very interesting conversation with Malcolm Gladwell, see George Mason University News
This session was my first of 2017, on the afternoon of January 1. No better way to kick off my work in the new year. These images are the perfect example of why I love what I do. A walk through this historic park on a bright winter day with these four. Thank you, Voigts, for trusting me to capture these photographs of you.
